MEET THE AIM INSTITUTE
MAKING LITERACY A PRIORITY ACROSS OUR COMMUNITIES
The challenge we saw was that literacy research was not getting into the classroom and therefore many children were not making progress in the foundational skills that support proficient reading, spelling and writing. AIM’s vision was to create a bridge between this research and classroom practice to transform lives through literacy. The critical framework for the “bridge” is teacher training based on evidence-based best practices. The goal was to create professional learning opportunities for everyone from paraeducators to principals with courses created by educators in collaboration with top researchers.
Our focus is to identify evidence-based best practices in the fields of literacy and language-based learning differences and to support teachers and leaders as they implement these practices in the classroom to transform and empower 100 million lives through literacy.
